Abia Permanent Secretary Urges Teachers to Align with Otti’s Education Reforms, Commends School Resumption Turnout

ABIA – The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mrs Uchechukwu Kalu, has enjoined teachers and caregivers in the State to align with the educational policy thrust of Governor Alex Otti by ensuring that Abia Pupils and Students acquire sound education to enhance their potentials in life.

Mrs Kalu who stated this while monitoring school resumption in Aba for the third term academic session, said that the administration of Governor Alex Otti in the state attaches great importance to the education needs of Abia Children hence the massive construction and retrofitting of schools, recruitment of qualified teachers, training and retraining of teachers, prompt payment of teachers salaries in the state among other interventions in the education sector.

The Permanent Secretary who spoke through the Director of Quality Assurance, Junior Basic School of the Ministry, Dr Esther Mbuko, said that the Ministry is committed to supporting all educational policies of the State Government and expressed satisfaction with the turn out of teachers and students in some schools visited in Aba while urging other parents who are yet to release their Children and Wards to School to do so as effective teaching and learning have commenced in earnest.

In their remarks, the Principal Oxfords International School, Dr. Ineh Moses Giovanni, the Principal, Osusu Junior Secondary School, Mrs E.N Erondu, the Principle Okigwe Road Junior Secondary School, Mrs M A Okezie and the Director, Emmanuel’s International Schools Aba, Dr Emmanuel Emekachukwu, said they are committed to building Abia children of tomorrow by ensuring they acquire good morals and sound education and commended the Governor for his administration’s efforts in the education sector of the State.
