ABOUT BCA

The BCA was established by Edict No. 4 of 1991 promulgated by the then military Administration  of Group Captain Frank Ajobene following creation of Abia in 1991, from its initial location at 70 Aba road Umuahia as its headquarter. 

Since inception, the corporation acquired a piece of land along the government station layout as its permanent location in 1998 which was commissioned by His Excellency, the Military Administrator of Abia State, Col. Moses O. Fasanya (Fss, Mss, Psc) on Friday 17th July, 1998 and this site has been developed and is presently housing the corporate Headquarters of the station with slogan “The Station Born To Lead’’.

The BCA operates two channels of communication namely Radio and Television. The BCA Radio: 88.1fmMHz came on air on 16th November 1992, while the Television arm which is on channel 47UHF band went on air on the 14th of August, 1994. 

The two channels are headed by a Director-General who is the Chief Executive of the Corporation and oversees the day to day running of the Corporation though under the supervision of either the Governing Board, Ministry of Information or Head of Service as the case maybe.

 However, for effective operation the Corporation is classified or grouped under departments and each of the departments is manned by a Director, who is responsible to the Director-General as the Directors report to him for smooth and effective operation.
