Government secures approval for construction of Abia Airport Terminal

ABIA – Governor Alex Otti says the state government has secured the approval of the federal government for the release of funds for the construction of the Terminal section of the Abia Airport, Nsulu.

Governor Otti who was speaking at the Isialangwa North Local Government Area Headquarters, Okpualangwa , during the formal reception of a political stalwart Ochiagha Reagan Ufomba and members of his Change Abia Organization , assured that the public will in a few years time start making use of the facility.

The Governor who also announced that the coming years will be filled with unprecedented speed in terms of project execution, said he will soon flag off the reconstruction of Ururuka road connecting Umuahia and Aba without going through the expressway.

He said all he has done so far in the last three years is foundation laying compared to the level of development that awaits the state in the coming years, noting that work is progressing on the Abia medical City project.

The state Chief Executive while appreciating Ochiagha Reagan Ufomba and his supporters for the bold step to identify with his administration assured new entrants of equal opportunities with old members.

In their speeches, the member representing Isialangwa North state Constituency Chief Ugochukwu Iheonunekwu, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba and Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Creative Economy Chief Mathew Ekwuribe noted that Governor Otti has in three years changed the narratives of the state, thereby earning the support of Abians.

The State Chairman Labour Party, Dr. Peter Azubuike while welcoming Ochiagha Reagan Ufomba and his supporters into the Labor Party, said the entire leadership and members are pleased to have him in their midst, describing his decision to join forces with the party as a welcome development.


Speaking after receiving the Labour Party flag with members of his Change Abia Organization, Ochiagha Reagan Ufomba said his decision to join the party was borne out of genuine conviction based on the visible record of achievements made by Governor Otti in all sectors, pointing out that such has restored public confidence in governance.

He said he joined Governor Otti for having demonstrated courage, competence and commitment, commending his bold vision of the proposed Abia Airport, a project that will position Abia as a gateway for commerce, investment and regional connectivity.

The event attracted the presence of many stakeholders including the former Deputy Governor, Sir Ude Okochukwu featured the presentation of the Labour party flag to Ochiagha Reagan Ufomba by Governor Alex Otti.
