The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Transportation, Associate Professor Obioma Nwogbe who gave the assurance while featuring in our News and Current Interview Programme “ISSUES OF MOMEMT” revealed that the programme was primarily designed to cushion the effect of Fuel hike which triggered transport fares across the board.

According to the Governor’s Aide, the first twenty electric buses introduced by the Governor Dr. Alex Otti is for the pilot stage of the programme emphasizing that no part of the State including the neighbouring Local Government Areas of Arochukwu, Umunneochi, Ukwa East and West, will be left out and called on Abians to maintain orderliness in boarding the vehicles and to continue to appreciate the Governor for the twenty-first Century Project that will last the test of times.

Associate Professor Nwogbe explained that apart from cost, the electric Buses are climate change friendly and currently covering Umuahia, Aba, Ohafia which are the three major Towns in the State and in the three Senatorial Zones of the State and urged passengers to refuse the temptation of cash transaction instead of using the approved cards for payment.

He further disclosed that his office has been able to recover Earth moving equipments abandoned by the past Administration in many sites in the state, pointing out that the Equipment have been of immense benefit in many direct Labour Projects by the Ministry of Works in the State and called on Abians to obtain their PVC’s in order to participate in the forthcoming Polls while underscoring the determination of Governor Alex Otti in delivering democracy dividends to the people.
