The Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engr.Ikechukwu Emetu, has called on students to remain focused on their academic pursuits and shun social vices, as he commended philanthropist, Builder Dr. Chukwu Kalu, for his commitment to humanitarian service.
Emetu made the call during the birthday celebration of Dr. Kalu at his residence in Amurie Nkporo, Ohafia Local Government Area.

He described the celebrant as a man blessed not only with the ability to generate wealth but also with a deep passion for giving, noting that such qualities are divinely inspired.
The Deputy Governor urged beneficiaries of the scholarship and empowerment programmes to reciprocate the gesture by dedicating themselves to their studies and avoiding vices such as cultism and drug abuse.

According to him, the most meaningful way to appreciate such support is through discipline, hard work, and responsible conduct.
Emetu also lauded the administration of Governor Alex Otti, stating that the state has witnessed remarkable transformation under his leadership.
He encouraged residents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and actively participate in the electoral process

He emphasized that votes, not sentiments, determine electoral outcomes, urging citizens to support good governance to sustain ongoing development in the state.


In their separate speeches, , the Mayor of Ohafia Local Government Area, Hon. Eleanya Oju Kalu, alongside former mayor, Chief David Ogba Onuoha, congratulated the celebrant and acknowledged his contributions to community development.
They equally commended Governor Otti’s leadership, noting that it has inspired individuals to actively support societal growth. The leaders stressed that investment in children and education remains a lasting legacy.

In his remarks, the celebrant, Builder Dr. Chukwu Kalu, expressed gratitude to God for the gift of life and the opportunity to impact others positively. He described the occasion as a moment of reflection and reaffirmed his commitment to education and youth empowerment.


Dr. Kalu, Chief Executive Officer of Concrete Divine Accessories Nigeria Construction Company, marked his birthday through a humanitarian outreach under his Build a Delta Foundation, targeting the less privileged and vulnerable members of society..

He noted that, for him, birthdays go beyond festivities, serving as opportunities to reflect on life’s journey and extend kindness to those in need.
The event featured the presentation of scholarships and empowerment packages to beneficiaries, drawing commendation from attendees and highlighting the critical role of philanthropy in community development.
