By Ifeanyi Ogbonna
The Broadcasting Corporation of Abia State (BCA) has successfully defended its 2027 budget estimate before the 2027 State Budget Defence Committee.
Speaking at the budget defence, the Acting Director General (BCA), Mr Francis Nwaubani, appealed to the committee to consider the 2027 budget estimate of the Corporation, which he said will provide digital transmitters for the Radio and Television, ensure uninterrupted power supply and maintain the station’s equipment.

DG BCA Mr. Francis Nwaubani
He explained that the Revenue of the station has dropped due to the absence of the Television on air, and the reach of the radio, which also dropped as a result of the mini-radio transmitter currently being used by the corporation, as well as competition arising from an increase in the number of radio stations in the state.
The Acting Director General, BCA, stressed that if the TV is brought back on air, with digital transmitters, for radio, it will enhance the reach of the station and increase its revenue generation, which comes through mainly paid adverts, sponsored commentaries, and paid news stories

He extolled the Governor for the completion of the first phase of the solar project in the corporation to boost power supply, renovation of the Administrative Block of the corporation, as well as the ongoing renovation work on the old administrative block of the corporation
The Acting Director General, BCA, assured that the corporation will continue to remain resolute in projecting the laudable achievement of the Government, in addition to living up to its functions of educating, entertaining, and informing the populace.
